2024 Women’s Cancun Challenge field announced

10 teams heading to Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya, Nov. 28-30

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Before conference play in D-I women's college basketball takes root, the smartest fan bases plant themselves at one of the most exciting and engaging tournament settings imaginable, the Women's Cancun Challenge. Tournament officials are excited to announce the 10 teams making the trip during the week of Thanksgiving to the all-inclusive Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya.

Powered by Triple Crown Sports, this is the 19th edition of the women's event. Games will be held Nov. 28-30, with players and fans just walking distance from their rooms to the converted ballroom that hosts the competition.

For 2024, the four-team Mayan Division has four teams confirmed – Providence, San Diego State, VCU and Wisconsin. These squads will play a three-game round robin at the event. In the Riviera Division, six teams will be making the trip and playing two games while in Mexico – BYU, Idaho State, Iowa, New Mexico State, Rhode Island,and Rice.

"Hard to believe we've hosted a generation's worth of talented women's basketball programs at the Cancun Challenge, but the event has proven its ability to attract outstanding competition as teams prepare for the hard work of conference play," said Cancun Challenge director Sarah Molina. "And thanks to the staff and attractions at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya, fans have also long ago figured out this is a terrific way to follow their teams and enjoy a sunny breather before winter really sets in."
