PLAYA DEL CARMEN, MX — Vermont Women's hoops hit the beaches of Mexico with authority on Thanksgiving Day and opened the 2024 Cancun Women's Riviera Tournament with a dominant win on Thursday. The Catamounts secured an impressive win over Idaho State, at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya, hosted by Triple Crown Sports.

Vermont (4-4), out of the America East Conference, outscored Idaho State in each of the four frames. 

The Catamounts held an early lead 16-14 after one quarter of play against the Bengals (2-5), representing the Big Sky Conference in Mexico.

Bella Vito led the charge in the first half, tallying eight points, including going four-of-four from the free throw line, to led the Catamounts for a 36-26 lead into the halftime break. Vermont had eight players get on the scoreboard in the half as well.

The Catamounts continued to pile it on the third quarter, adding to their lead with a 13-4 output, heading to the fourth quarter up 51-35.

Idaho State returns to the floor on Friday facing off against Rhode Island at 4 p.m. ET, The Catamounts will follow, facing off against Rice at 6:30 p.m. ET.  Both games will be broadcast live on FloCollege.
