Eleven lead changes highlighted the matchup between Creighton and Temple on Friday evening. Jim Flanery’s Bluejays were nearly perfect down the stretch, edging away from the Owls for the win, 69-59.
Temi Carda carded her best performance of the Mexico trip, totaling 17 points and four rebounds before exiting the game. After a near triple-double yesterday, Jaylyn Agnew continued her impressive play with 15 points, five rebounds, three assists and a place on the Riviera Division All-Tournament Team. Olivia Elger’s three 3’s and 12 points were another factor in Creighton’s win.
The Bluejays only turned the ball over seven times compared to 15 from Temple. Along with protecting the rock, Creighton was 8-10 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter alone, making certain the Owls were always at arm’s length.
Mia Davis finished with a game-high 18 points for Temple while Shannen Atkinson recorded the game’s only double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, and a place on the All-Tournament Team.
