Green Bay in Cruise Control in Opening Day Victory

Playa Del Carmen, MX – The Green Bay Phoenix started strong and never looked back en route to a thoroughly dominant victory over UMass, 85-52, on Thursday afternoon in the 2023 Cancun Challenge.
 
Cassie Shiltz led Phoenix with 16 points while Natalie McNeal added 14 points and six rebounds. As a team, Green Bay shot over 50 percent from the field and limited the Minutewomen to just 38 percent from the field. Green Bay led by 10 after the first quarter, but it was really the second quarter, 23-6 for Green Bay, which bust the game wide open.
 
10 players scored in the game for Green Bay, which enjoyed a 31-11 advantage in bench points. The Phoenix also finished with a 19-2 advantage in fast break points, controlling every aspect of the game. Green Bay will take on Maryland tomorrow, which is hoping to bounce back from a 20-point loss to Washington State.
